Analysis of Risk Factors and Interventions for Fracture Displacement after External Fixation of Distal Radius Fractures with Small Splints

Abstract:Objective:To analyze the risk factors and interventions for fracture displacement after external fixation of distal radius fractures with small splints. Methods:The clinical data of 100 patients with distal radius fracture treated with external fixation via small splints in Pingdingshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2020 to November 2023 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into the non-displaced group and the displaced group according to whether or not the fracture displacement occurred. The data of the two groups were compared, and the risk factors and interventions for fracture displacement after external fixation with small splints for distal radius fractures were analyzed. Results:A total of 21 patients had a fracture displacement fracture, with an incidence rate of 21%.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant when comparing the age of the patients, whether the affected limb was the lee hand side, ulnar stem fracture, degree of radial shortening,pre-treatment palmar tilt angle, and dorsal comminution of the distal radius, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that age,the affected limb being the sharp-handed side, ulnar stem fracture, degree of radial shortening,pre-treatment palmar tilt, and dorsal comminution of the distal radius were the risk factors for fracture displacement in patients with distal radius fractures treated by external fixation with a small splint, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Patients with distal radius fractures treated by external fixation with a small splint are at a higher risk of fracture displacement, and associated risk factors include age,the affected limb being on the sharp-handed side, ulnar stem fracture, degree of radial shortening,pre-treatment palmar inclination, and dorsal comminution of the distal radius.
