Acupuncture Combined with Auricular Pressure Therapy in Patients with Cervicogenic Headache

Abstract：Objective:To explore the effect of acupuncture combined with auricular point sticking treatment on patients with cervical headache.Methods:From June 2022 to January 2024,70 patients with cervical headache were selected from a grade-A orthopedic hospital in Henan Province,and divided by random number table method,with 35 patients in each group.The control group only took traditional acupuncture therapy,the control group received routine treatment,while the observation group underwent auricular point sticking therapy on top of the control group's regimen.Headache index scores,cervical joint motion scores(ROM),headache efficacy measures-6(HIT-6)were compared in the two groups and observed before and after treatment.Results:The visual analog scale(VAS)scores of the patients in the observation group decreased compared with those in the conrtol group,and the difference was statistically significant(t=-2.532,P＜0.05).After treatment,the ROM score of the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(t=-2.884,P＜0.05).After treatment,the HIT-6 score of the treatment group was better than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(t=-3.302,P＜0.05).The clinical effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=-2.438,P＜0.05).In the control group,1 case experienced a fainting reaction after acupuncture.Conclusion:The combined treatment of acupuncture and auricular point sticking has more significant effect on relieving the symptoms of cervicogenic headache compared with single acupuncture treatment.This comprehensive treatment strategy has high application value in clinical practice.
