Abstract:Objective:To explore the effects of different periods of red and blue light on the reproductive system of male SD rats. Methods:A total of 90 male SD PND21 rats was selected, and divided into 5 groups according to body weight:white light control group, night blue light group, day blue light group, night red light group and day red light group, with 18 rats in each group.Rats were radiance with 200 Lx white light, blue light and red light with the same radiance as white light. From PND23 to sexual maturity, the reproductive system related indicators of the rats were observed. The anogenital distance was measured regularly, and the organ coefficients of testis, epididymis, liver, kidney, adrenal gland, seminal vesicle, prostate gland, sperm motility and total sperm of the rats were recorded. Results:When PND57 was used, the food utilization rate of night blue and day blue groups decreased compared with night red group. At PND30,compared with rats in the control group, the standardized anogenital distance of the rats in night red light group, day red light group and day blue light group was increased(P<0.05).At PND50,the anogenital distance of the red light group was decreased compared with the control group(P<0.05).At PND60,the anogenital distance of the rats in the night blue light group was decreased compared with the control group(P<0.05),and the standardized anogenital distance was decreased compared with the rats in control group(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the liver weight of the night blue light group was decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the rats in control group, the sperm motility of the rats in blue light group and the red light group decreased, and the total sperm of the rats in blue light group and the red light group increased(P<0.05).Conclusion:Exposure to red and blue light at different periods has effect on reproductive indicators in male SD rats.Blue light exposure delayed reproductive development in SD rats, and the daytime blue light delays reproductive development more obviously than the night blue light.Exposure to blue light during daytime and red light at night decreases sperm motility, while exposure to blue light during daytime and red light during daytime increases sperm total.Exposure to blue light at night reduces liver weight.
