Abstract:Objective:To analyze the correlation between PCT and the degree of bone marrow suppression and infection risk during chemotherapy in children with AL.Methods:This study is a retrospective study, involving 100 children with AL complicated with bone marrow suppression admitted to the hospital from June 2021 to October 2023.Based on different laboratory PCT test results,62 children with PCT≤0.5ng/mL were classified as the normal group, and 38 children with PCT>0.5 ng/mL were classified as the abnormal group. The differences in peripheral blood cell indicators such as WBC,Hb and PLT between the two groups were compared, and the correlation between PCT and WBC,Hb and PLT was tested by Spearman correlation coefficient.According to the presence or absence of infection symptoms, the enrolled children were classified as infected and uninfected groups. And the differences in PCT,WBC,Hb and PLT between the two groups were compared. The predictive efficacy of PCT on the risk of infection in AL patients with bone marrow suppression was verified by plotting ROC and AUC.Results:After testing, the WBC,Hb and PLT of the abnormal group were lower than those of the normal group, and the difference was statistically significant(t=9.699,2.493,2.807;P<0.05).According to Spearman correlation coefficient test, there was negative correlation between PCT and WBC,Hb and PLT in children with AL combined with bone marrow suppression(P<0.05).After testing, the PCT of the infected group was higher than that of the uninfected group, and the WBC,Hb and PLT were all lower than those of the uninfected group, with statistically significant difference(t=47.824,4.558,2.374,2.637;P<0.05).Verified by the ROC curve, the predictive sensitivity and specificity of PCT for the risk of infection in children with AL combined with bone marrow suppression were 84.29%and 75.36%,with a cutoff value of 2.28 ng/mL and AUC=0.854.Conclusion:The expression level of PCT is negatively correlated with WBC,Hb and PLT in children with AL combined with bone marrow suppression.Monitoring PCT can achieve early prediction of infection risk in children. When PCT≥2.28 ng/mL,it indicates a higher risk of secondary infection in the patient.
