Abstract:Objective:To analyze the differences in the effects of laceback versus light elastic traction cusps on dentition and orthodontic efficacy during the alignment phase of orthodontic treatment. Methods:The clinical data of 80 patients who received orthodontic treatment in the hospital from January 2023 to June 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. And they were divided into the laceback group and the light elasticity group according to the different ways of pulling cusp teeth during the alignment stage, with 40 cases in each group. The dental arches before and after the alignment of the two groups with respect to the dental arch lengths, rotational degrees of the cusp teeth and molar teeth and intermolar widths, and the speed of cusp teeth distal displacement, were compared. The orthodontic efficacy 6 months after the alignment was counted. Results:After alignment, the lengths of the maxillary and mandibular dental arches and the width between the incisors in the laceback group were shorter than those in the light elastic group, and the rotational degree of the incisors was greater than that in the light elastic group. The differences were statistically significant(t=3.173,3.565,2.036,2.505,5.636,4.062;P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the rotational degree and interdental width of the molars between the two groups of patients(t=0.212,0.682,0.426,1.405;P>0.05).The movement speed of the maxillary and mandibular canines in the light elastic group was faster than that in the laceback group, and the differences were statistically significant(t=4.462,5.073;P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in orthodontic efficacy between the two groups of patients(χ2=1.953,P>0.05).Conclusion:The application of laceback and light elastic traction on cuspids respectively in the alignment stage of orthodontics can achieve good efficacy with little difference, but the comparison of the effects of the two methods on the dentition revealed that light elastic traction was more conducive to the improvement of the patients'arch lengths, cusp rotations and interspace widths, but cusp distal movements were more rapid. The effect of control on the dentition was less than that of the laceback traction.
