Illness Uncertainty in Subjective Tinnitus Patients and the Analysis of its Influencing Factors

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the illness uncertainty in subjective tinnitus patients and analyze its influencing factors.Methods:Using the convenience sampling method,selecting 101 subjective tinnitus patients from a third class hospital in Guangzhou from Febuary to October 2022.Self-made general information questionnaire,Chinese Version of Mishel's Uncertainty in Illness Scale,Tinnitus Handicap Inventory,Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)were employed to them.The illness uncertainty in subjective tinnitus patients,the correlation between each factor and the illness uncertainty in subjective tinnitus patients were analyzed by multiple regression analysis.Results:The average score of illness uncertainty in the 101 subjective tinnitus patients was(96.18±10.50),98(98.02%)patients were at a median level.The score of uncertainty in illness,including the two dimensionalities of uncertainty and lack of information,was positively correlated with tinnitus severity,anxiety and depression(P<0.001).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the severity of tinnitus and the level of anxiety were influencing factors(P<0.05).Conclusion:Uncertainty in illness is in the medium range among subjective tinnitus patients.The level of tinnitus severity,depression and anxiety greatly affect illness uncertainty in subjective tinnitus patients.Medical workers should use personal therapies accroding to the influential factors to reduce their uncertainty and promote rehabilitation.
