Logistic Analysis of Clinical Characteristics and Risk Factors for Mortality in Preterm Infant

Abstract:Objective:To explore the clinical characteristics and risk factors for mortality in ultra premature infants(EPI).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 112 cases of EPI who were admitted in the First People's Hospital of Wolong District,Nanyang City from January 2022 to June 2023.Grouping based on EPI clinical outcomes survival, death, the clinical characteristics of the two groups were compared, and univariate and logistic multiple regression analysis were performed to identify the risk factors for EPI mortality. Results:Among the 112 cases of EPI,35 cases(31.25%)were died.In comparision of the survival group, the proportion of EPI with gestational age<26 weeks, birth weight<750 g,multiple pregnancies, pulmonary hemorrhage within 1 week of birth, necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC)within 1 week of birth, hypothermia within 1 week of birth, invasive mechanical ventilation, and maternal body mass index(BMI)≥28 kg/m2 of the death group was higher. The results of logistic multivariate analysis showed that multiple births, pulmonary hemorrhage within 1 week of birth,NEC within 1 week of birth, hypothermia within 1 week of birth, invasive mechanical ventilation, and maternal BMI≥28 kg/m2 were independent risk factors for EPI death(OR=5.527,5.962,5.033,2.109,3.620,2.963;P<0.05).Conclusion:EPI has higher risk of mortality, with multiple pregnancies, pulmonary hemorrhage within one week of birth,NEC within 1 week of birth, hypothermia within 1 week of birth, invasive mechanical ventilation, and maternal BMI are all closely related to them, which requires special attention.
