Mediating Effect of Coping Style on Positive Emotion and Psychosocial Adjustment in Young Patients with Thyroid Cancer After Surgery

Abstract:Objective:To explore the mediating effect of coping style on positive emotion and psychosocial adjustment in young patients with thyroid cancer after surgery,and to provide reference for improving the level of psychosocial adjustment of patients.Methods:A total of 353 young patients with thyroid cancer after surgery were investigated by the general information questionnaire,Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire,Positive Emotion Scale and Psychosocial Adaptation Scale.Results:Positive emotions,confrontation coping,avoidance coping,yield coping and psychosocial adjustment scores of young postoperative thyroid cancer patients were(30.01±7.92)(21.66±4.41)(16.34±2.96)(10.86±1.74)(47.52±16.29)respectively.Positive emotion was negatively correlated with psychosocial adjustment score and avoidance coping score(P<0.01),but positively correlated with confrontation coping score(P<0.01).Confrontation coping was negatively correlated with psychosocial adjustment score(P<0.01),and avoidance coping was positively correlated with psychosocial adjustment score(P<0.01).Coping style played a partial mediating role between positive emotion and psychosocial adjustment,with an effect ratio of 53.79%.Conclusion:Coping style plays a partial mediating role between positive emotions and psychosocial adjustment in young patients with thyroid cancer after surgery.Clinical medical staff should take effective intervention measures to improve the positive emotions of young patients with thyroid cancer after surgery,promote their positive coping styles to the disease,and improve their psychosocial adjustment.
