Efficacy of Ipratropium Bromide Solution Combined with Montelukast Sodium Chewable Tablets in the Treatment of Cough-variant Asthma

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of a combination therapy involving ipratropium bromide solution and montelukast chewable tablets in the treatment of childhood asthma(CVA).Methods:84 pediatric CVA patients admitted from April 2021 and March 2023 were selected for this study.Based on the patients'symptoms and characteristics,they were divided into control group and experimental group,with 42 CVA patients in each group.The control group received treatment with ipratropium bromide solution,while the experimental group received combination therapy of ipratropium bromide solution and montelukast chewable tablets.The clinical treatment outcomes,pulmonary function effects,and occurrence of adverse reactions between the two groups were compared.Results:The total effective rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(x2=9.722,P＜0.05).In the experimental group,8 children relapsed,the recurrence rate was 19.51％,and in the control group,1 1 children relapsed,the recurrence rate was 35.48％.After treatment,the pulmonary function of both groups was improved,and the improvement effect of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group,with statistically significant difference(t=4.141,4.811,4.540;P＜0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(x2=6.563,P＜0.05).Conclusion:The combined use of ipratropium bromide solution and montelukast chewable tablets in the treatment of childhood asthma demonstrates significant clinical efficacy,improves pulmonary function,and reduces recurrence rates.
