Expression and Significance of Serum Thyroid Hormone FT3,FT4 and TSH Levels in Patients with Schizophrenia

Abstract：Objective:To analyze the expression levels and significance of serum thyroid hormones[free triiodothyronine(FT3),free thyroxine(FT4)and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH)]in patients with schizophrenia.Methods:A total of 240 patients with schizophrenia and 240 patients without mental illness admitted to the hospital from July 2021 to May 2023 were enrolled in the observation group and control group,respectively.Serum thyroid hormone levels of both groups were measured.The efficacy of serum thyroid hormone in the diagnosis of schizophrenia was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.The violent behavior of the observation group was evaluated by modified Explicit Aggressive Behavior Scale(MOAS).The serum thyroid hormone levels in schizophrenic patients with or without violent behavior were compared.And the correlation between serum thyroid hormone and violent behavior in schizophrenic patients was analyzed by Spearman method.Results:FT3,FT4 and TSH in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(t=1 1.490,11.881,15.663;P＜0.05).Serum thyroid hormone markers,such as FT3,FT4 and TSH etc.,had good efficacy in diagnosing schizophrenia(P＜0.05).FT3,FT4 and TSH of patients with violent schizophrenia were higher than those of patients with non-violent schizophrenia(t=5.328,4.233,5.612;P＜0.05).Conclusion:Serum thyroid hormones,such as FT3,FT4 and TSH,are expressed at a high level in patients with schizophrenia,and the serum thyroid hormones levels of FT3,FT4 and TSH in patients with violent behavior are higher than those in patients without violent behavior,indicating that serum thyroid hormones,such as FT3,FT4 and TSH,provide an effective and objective basis for the diagnosis of schizophrenia and the risk assessment of violent behavior.
