Abstract:Objective:To explore the application effect of modified Twin-Block appliance in the treatment of children with skeletal Angle Class Ⅱ Division 1 malocclusion.Methods:60 children with skeletal Angle Class Ⅱ Division 1 malocclusion in the hospital from June 2020 to June 2023 were selected and divided into study group(traditional Twin-Block appliance,32 cases)and control group(traditional Twin-Block appliance treatment,28 cases)according to treatment methods. The two groups were compared for efficacy, cephalometric indicators, peer assessment rating(PAR)index and upper airway morphological indicators. Results:After 6 months of treatment,SNA and ANB of the study group decreased, and were smaller than that of the control group.SNB increased and was larger than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference(t=2.883,2.340,4.601;P<0.05).After 6 months of treatment,PAR index scores and total scores in the study group were lower than those before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(t=2.322,3.657,2.365,3.785,3.946,3.072,5.105;P<0.05).After 6 months of treatment, the total volume of upper airway in the study group was higher than that before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(t=2.544,P<0.05).Conclusion:Modified Twin-Block appliance can achieve good orthodontic effect on children with skeletal Angle Class Ⅱ Division 1 malocclusion. It has positive effect on the improvement of upper airway morphology.Modified Twin-Block appliance can obtain better cephalometric indicators and occlusion relationship compared with traditional Twin-Block appliance.
