Compress Bone Graft for Front Post to Treat Thoracolumbar Burst Fractures
Abstract:Objective To investigate the feasibility of transpedicular impaction bone grafting through fractured vertebra in the treatment of thoracolumbar burst fracture. Methods From March, 2009 to August, 2015, 176 patients of thoracolumbar burst fracture were treated with internal pedicle fixation, posterior decompression and impacted bone grafting to anterior column through the pedicle of fractured verte-bra.Results After the operation, patients′vertebral height basically recovered to normal and the kyphosis was corrected mostly. No verte-bral height loss or implants failure was found after 6~24 months following up.Conclusion Transpedicular impaction bone grafting to ante-rior column of fractured vertebra can provide sufficient support consequently, prevent centrum from height losses, and reduce the possibility of loosening and breakage of internal fixation.
