Relationship between Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential and Awakeness in Patients with Long-term Conscious Disorder with Se vere Cranio cereb ralI njury
Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between brainstem auditory evoked potential and awakeness in patients with long termconsciousnessdisorderinseverecraniocerebralinjury. Methods 60patientswithseveretraumaticbraininjurywereadmittedtothe hospital from June ,2013 to June, 2015.Patients with severe cerebral contusion over two weeks were chosen as subjects, and the patients were divided into two groups, by the standard of the awareness 6 months after injury. The two groups were named conscious group and non-conscious groups (including plant-survival status and death). All the patients were evaluated by brainstem evoked potentials combined with brainstem auditory evoked potential, and their correlation was analyzed. Results The relationship of ciliary ridge reflex, ocular reflex and pupil to light reflex was closely related with the conscious state(P<0.05).The sensitivity and specificity of the combined diagnosis were 0.889 and 0.212, respectively, and the confidence interval were (1.232 ±0.027).The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The brainstem reflex combined with auditory evoked potential could have great value in the prognosis of patients with severe head injury in long-term consciousness, and it is worthy of clinical promotion.
