Abstract:Objective To analyze the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum IL-17 levels in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ( ALS) , and to investigate whether IL -17 has a correlation with disease progression rate ( DPR) .Methods All the participants enrolled was collected serum samples .Of all the ALS patients , twenty-seven patients and sixteen patients with tension -type-headache in the control subjects were performed lumbar punctures in a standardize way、CSF and blood samples were collected .The levels of IL-17 were performed by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent method using commercial ELISA assay .Results IL-17 levels were found to increase significantly in CSF and serum in ALS patients studied , moreover , IL-17 levels in CSF were positively and significantly correlated with DPR of ALS .Con-clusion IL-17, as a proinflammatory, could be a useful biomarker in the prognostic and evaluating potential for ALS .
