The influence analysis of clinicopathological features on lymph nodes metastasis ratio for thoracic esophageal squamous cell carci-noma
Abstract:Objective To explore the influence of clinicopathological features on lymph nodes metastasis ratio in the cases of thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma .Methods A retrospective study was made on the clinicopathological materials for 60 patients with radical resection of thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma .Meanwhile , the analysis was made on the correlation between clinicopath-ological features ( which including tumor site , tumor length , differentiation degree , infiltration degree and TNM staging ) and lymph nodes metastasis ratio. Results Total of 1198 lymph nodes was removed in 60 patients and metastases existed in 55 lymph nodes , thus the gener-al lymph nodes metastasis ratio was 4.59%.The lower differentiation degree , the lower tumor site and the higher TNM staging could result in an increasing of lymph nodes metastasis ratio (P<0.05).However, there were no significant relation between tumor length , infiltration degree and lymph nodes metastasis ratio (P>0.05).Conclusion Tumor site, differentiation degree and TNM staging can be regarded as the important predictors of lymph node metastasis for patients with esophageal carcinoma , and these factors may play important roles in lymph node dissection , postoperative comprehensive treatment and prognostic assessment .
