Abstract:Objective To study the cause of electrocardiogram change of schizophrenia patients with olanzapine and risperidone .Methods 290schizophreniapatientsfromJanuary,2011toNovember,2014inthehospitalwereselected.132casestookolanzapine ( olanzapine group ) , and 158 cases took risperidone ( Risperdal group ).Relevant medical records were recorded and statistical analysis was done. Results Abnormal ST -T and QRS wave group of olanzapine group compared with risperidone group has significantly statistical difference. The mean P-R intervals in patients with olanzapine is (0.14 ±0.07), which is significantly lower than the line average (0.16 ±0.07) (P=0.023);the mean QT intervals in patients with olanzapine is( 0.042 ±0.02), which is significantly higher than that of the baseline mean (0.040 ±0.02) (P=0.003);in the QT eventual interval of the patients , the average is (0.043 ±0.02), which is signifi-cantly higher than that of the baseline mean (0.040 ±0.01) (P=0.015).Conclusion Comparable propensity of olanzapine and risperi-done for induction of electrocardiographic changes demands adequate cautiousness by clinicians , particularly with respect to shortening of QT interval that is mainly noticeable in the olanzapine group.
