Effect and Safety Comparison of the Treatment of Elderly BPH by Transurethral Resection of Prostate Versus Plasma and Tran-surethral Resection of the Prostate
Abstract:Objective To compare the effect and safety on the treatment of elderly BPH by transurethral resection of prostate versus plasma and transurethral resection of the prostate. Methods Selecting 182 cases with BPH in the hospital from April, 2010 to April, 2014, and dividing them into experimental group and control group according to TUBVP and TURP operation ways.Patients in the experimental group received TUBVP treatment, and the control group received TURP treatment.Operation status, postoperative symptoms and complica-tions were compared between two groups. Results The blood loss, operative time and bladder washing time were significantly less in experimental group than in control group ( P<0.05).Six months postoperatively, I-PSS, Qmax and QOL were significantly improved in two groups (P<0.05),with no statistical difference (P>0.05).Conclusion The two groups have similar efficacy treatment in BPH. Compared TUBVP with TURP, TUBVP is safer than TURP, presenting less bleeding, and shorter operative time. Therefore, TUBVP is bet-ter treatment option for elderly BPH.
