Abstract:Objective To research the effectiveness of laparoscopic and open total mesorectal excision in the treatment of rectal cancer and analyze the complications of the patients. Methods During July, 2012 and July, 2013, 130 rectal cancer patients were selected and divided into group A and group B.The 65 rectal cancer patients in group A were treated by laparoscopic total mesorectal excision while the other 65 rectal cancer patients in group B were treated by conventional open total mesorectal excision .The treatment effect of all the patients was observed. Results The mean operation time of group A and B are (133.5 ±46.0 ) and (142.4 ±49.1 ) min, and the surgical bleed-ing of group A and B are (147.9 ±85.6) and (299.8 ±100.7), which are lower than that of the patients in group B.The complication rate is 20.00%, which is lower than 47.69%in group B.All the results above are statistically significance , P<0.05.Conclusion Com-pared with conventional open total mesorectal excision , the laparoscopic total mesorectal excision has more benefits for rectal cancer patients and it has a good effects on the patients. It is worth of clinical application.
