Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of a comprehensive intervention program combining Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)hot compress pack and progressive neck-shoulder functional rehabilitation based on the Management by Objectives Theory in postoperative cervicoscapular syndrome of thyroid cancer patients. Methods A total of 203 patients with thyroid cancer admitted to a tertiary Grade A hospital from January 2023 to February 2025 were enrolled and divided into a control group(n=96)and an observation group(n=107).The control group received routine functional exercises, while the observation group was given a comprehensive intervention regimen combining TCM hot compress pack based on the Management by Objectives Theory and progressive functional rehabilitation. The shoulder function, sleep quality and quality of life of the two groups were compared before and after the intervention. Results The shoulder function scores of the observation group at 1 week and 1 month after surgery were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.01).The sleep quality of the observation group at 1 month after surgery was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.01).In terms of quality of life, the scores of the observation group in 5 dimensions, namely bodily pain,role-physical,physical functioning, vitality, and social functioning, were significantly better than those of the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion The TCM hot compress pack combined with progressive functional exercise based on Management by Objectivescan Theory can effectively promote postoperative neck-shoulder functional rehabilitation in thyroid cancer patients, improving sleep quality. The scheme is positive significance in alleviating postoperative neck and shoulder syndrome. It integrates the behavioral guidance of goal management, the multidimensional advantages of external therapy of TCM and progressive rehabilitation. It is standardized in operation and has good compliance,so it is worthy of popularization and application in clinical nursing.
