Best Evidence Summary on Prevention of Enteral Nutrition Feeding Intolerance in Patients Ventilated in Prone Position

Abstract:Objective To synthesize the best evidence of prevention of enteral nutrition(EN)feeding intolerance in patients ventilated in prone position.Methods Retrieve relevant on the prevention of feeding intolerance in prone position ventilated patients from Chinese and English databases and guideline websites,conducted from database inception to June 5,2025.Two researchers independently completed literature screening,quality evaluation,and data extraction to summarize the evidence.Results A total of 12 articles were included,including 1 guideline,7 systematic reviews,2 evidence summaries,1 clinical decision,and 1 recommended practice.Finally,25 pieces of evidence topics were synthesized from six aspects:management and training,risk screening and evaluation,postural management,feeding regimen,pharmacological interventions,and non-pharmacological interventions.Conclusion The study summarize the best evidence for prevention of enteral nutrition feeding intolerance in prone ventilated patients.These findings offer a scientific foundation for clinical nursing practice and are highly recommended for implementation in clinic.
