Abstract:Objective To translate the Ambulance Nurses Competency(ANC)scale into Chinese and assess its validity and reliability among Chinese nurses. Methods The Chinese version of ANC was developed through cross-cultural adaptation using the Brislin translation model.A total of 212 nurses from the emergency departments of 7 secondary Grade A and above general hospitals across the country were selected by convenience sampling method to test its reliability and validity. Results The Chinese version of ANC consisted 40 items across 8 dimensions. The overall Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.949,with dimension-level coefficients ranging from 0.801 to 0.932.Split-half reliability was 0.847 overall and 0.718 to 0.931 across dimensions. The overall test-retest reliability was 0.939,and 0.728 to 0.970 across dimensions. The item-level content validity index(I-CVI)ranged from 0.800 to 1.000,and the scale-level content validity index(S-CVI/Ave)was 0.937.Exploratory factor analysis extracted 8 common factors, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 69.86%.The factor loading values of each item on its corresponding dimension ranged from 0.686 to 0.823.Conclusion The Chinese version of ANC has good reliability and validity, and it can be used to assess the competency of emergency nurses in China.
