Abstract:Objective To examine the mediating effect of self-efficacy in relationship between social support and kinesiophobia in patients after ankle fracture surgery. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 320 patients after ankle fracture surgery at a Grade A tertiary orthopedic specialized hospital in Xinjiang.Data were collected using the General Information Questionnaire,Social Support Rating Scale,General Self-Efficacy Scale, and Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia. Results The score of social support was(32.54±3.81),the score of self-efficacy was(27.96±6.23),and the score of kinesiophobia was(39.57±1.50).Kinesiophobia was negatively correlated with both social support(r=-0.452,P<0.01)and self-efficacy(r=-0.434,P<0.01),while self-efficacy was positively correlated with social support(r=0.463,P<0.01).Self-efficacy played a partial mediating effect between social support and kinesiophobia, accounting for 23.17%of the total effect. Conclusion Patients after ankle fracture surgery have kinesiophobia.Clinical medical staff should strengthen patients'social support system, enhance their self-efficacy,and thereby reduce postoperative kinesiophobia to facilitate joint function recovery.
