Abstract:Objective To examine the relationship between family resilience and demoralization syndrome in patients with gynecological malignancies and their spouses. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 563 patients with gynecological malignant tumors and their spouses admitted to a tertiary hospital in Anhui Province.Data were collected using a General Information Questionnaire,Family Hardiness Index and Demoralization Scale-Ⅱ.Results The family resilience scores of patients with gynecological malignancies and their spouses were(58.34±5.33)and(59.19±5.22),respectively,the demoralization scores were(13.00±5.46)and(11.31±5.58),respectively.Family resilience was negatively correlated with demoralization scores(r=-0.311~-0.545,P<0.01).In terms of the actor effect, family resilience in both patients and their spouses negatively predicted their own demoralization syndrome(β1=-0.418,β2=-0.497,P<0.01).In terms of the partner effect, family resilience in both patients and their spouses negatively predicted each other's demoralization syndrome(β1=-0.128,β2=-0.179,P<0.01).Conclusion Patients and their spouses should be viewed as a dyadic coping unit due to the interactive influence between family resilience and demoralization syndrome. It is recommended to develop targeted intervention measures focused on family resilience to reduce the level of demoralization syndrome.
