Abstract:Objective To create a nursing intervention strategy based on Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)to reduce thirst in heart failure patients and to serve as a guide for clinical nursing practice. Methods The"6S"model was used to access literature from both domestic and foreign sources, including self-built databases up until October 31,2024.Two researchers conducted literature quality evaluation and evidence synthesis, preliminarily formulating a TCM nursing intervention protocol for thirst relief in heart failure patients. The protocol was revised using the Delphi method. Results The response rate for the questionnaires in both rounds of the Delphi survey was 100%,with expert authority coefficients of 0.905 and 0.852,respectively.Kendall's W values were 0.103 and 0.125,respectively.A TCM nursing intervention program for alleviating thirst in patients with heart failure was developed, comprising 3 primary items,11 secondary items, and 22 tertiary items. Conclusion The nursing intervention protocol for thirst relief in heart failure patients was designed, incorporating TCM concepts to simplify the entire thirst treatment process. It might offer clear implementation strategies for clinical practice and promote widespread acceptance.
