Abstract:Objective To develop an evidence-based management protocol for preventing stroke-associated pneumonia(SAP)based on best evidence, and to evaluate its clinical effectiveness and safety. Methods An evidence-based project team was established to search for and apply the best evidence.Data were collected through medical record reviews and on-site observations.Baseline surveys and audits were conducted for two groups of patients and healthcare staff before and after the implementation of the evidence, followed by analysis of barriers to evidence application and formulation of improvement measures. Results A total of 16 quality review indicators were established. The incidence of SAP in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The rate of nurses'awareness and implementation were improved(P<0.01).Conclusion The evidence-based management protocol can reduce the incidence of SAP in stroke patients and improve the evidence implementation rate among healthcare staff.
