Abstract:Objective To integrate the best evidence on managing post-extubation dysphagia in ICU patients by utilizing evidence-based methods. Methods Following the"6S"evidence model, relevant guideline websites and databases were searched, covering the period from the establishment of the database to February 1,2025.Two researchers, who received systematic training, independently evaluated and synthesized the evidence. Results A total of 12 papers were included in the literature, including 4 guidelines,4 expert consensus statements,3 systematic reviews, and 1 clinical decision aid.The evidence was summarized into 20 best pieces, which covered five key themes:multidisciplinary collaboration, screening and assessment, swallowing function training, nutritional intervention, and process monitoring and outcome evaluation. Conclusion The study systematically summarises the evidence concerning the management of dysphagia following extubation. It suggests that healthcare professionals should collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and prudently integrate clinical contexts when translating evidence into practice, thereby formulating management strategies to improve patient outcomes.
