Abstract:Objective To explore the mediating effect of discharge teaching quality on the relationship between family function and discharge readiness in patients after total knee arthroplasty(TKA).Methods A general information questionnaire, the Family Adaptation,Partnership,Growth,Affection,Resolve(APGAR)index, the Quality of Discharge Teaching Scale(QDTS),and the Readiness for Hospital Discharge Scale(RHDS)were used to collect a total of 240 patients who underwent TKA from two tertiary grade A hospitals in Shandong Province. Results The scores for family function, discharge teaching quality, and discharge readiness in TKA patients were(7.97±2.29),(134.26±33.74),and(89.52±19.18),respectively.Family function was positively correlated with both discharge teaching quality and discharge readiness(r1=0.305,r2=0.360,r3=0.815,all P<0.01).Discharge teaching quality partially mediated the relationship between family function and discharge readiness, accounting for 56.71%of the total effect. Conclusion The discharge readiness of TKA patients is at a moderate level.Discharge teaching quality serves as a mediating variable between family function and discharge readiness. In clinical practice, attention should be paid to the assessment and intervention of family functioning.By improving the discharge teaching quality, patients'discharge readiness can be enhanced, thereby facilitating a smooth transition from hospital to home.
