Abstract:Objective To explore the impact mechanisms of head nurses'empowerment behaviors on nurses'perceived career uncer-tainty.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among a total of 1 030 clinical nurses from four tertiary hospitals in Xi'an between February and April 2024,utilizing convenience sampling method.Data were collected using a General Information Questionnaire, the Nurse Managers'Empowering Leadership Behaviors Scale, and the Nurses'Career Uncertainty Inventory. Results The total score of head nurse'em-powering leadership behaviors was(161.33±20.80),while the total score of nurses'career uncertainty was(125.58±16.54).Age,professional title, years of working experience and head nurses'empowering leadership behaviors were identified as influencing factors of nurses'career un-certainty(P<0.05).Conclusion Both head nurses'empowering leadership behaviors and nurses'career uncertainty are at a moderate level.Enhancing empowering leadership behaviors among head nurses, with particular attention paid to younger nurses, those with junior professional titles, and those with shorter work tenures, may further reduce career uncertainty and help stabilize the nursing workforce.
