Abstract:Objective To explore the mediating effect of career benefit between positive mental health and willingness to stay among nurses in secondary hospitals, and to provide a reference for formulating effective intervention measures. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 451 nurses from three secondary hospitals in Shanghai using general information questionnaire,Warwick-Edinburgh Positive Mental Health Scale, nurses'sense of career benefit questionnaire and Chinese version of nurses'willingness to stay questionnaire. Results The positive mental health score of nurses in military secondary general hospitals was(47.89±9.85).The career benefit scores was(115.81±18.76).And the willingness score was(21.00±4.16).Positive mental health, career benefit, and willingness were positively correla-ted(r1=0.625,r2=0.447,r3=0.541,all P<0.001).Career benefit played a partial mediating role between positive mental health and willing-ness,accounting for 59.96%of the total effect. Conclusion The willingness of nurses in secondary hospitals to stay is at an upper-medium level.Positive mental health can directly affect the willingness to stay, and can also indirectly affect the willingness to stay through the sense of career benefit. It is recommended that nursing managers should implement positive mental health interventions to enhance nurses'sense of ca-reer benefit and thus enhance their willingness to stay.
