Research on the development and application of a smart learning platform for Nursing Research Methods course

Abstract：Objective To design and develop a smart learning platform for Nursing Research Methods course,and evaluate its applica-tion effectiveness.Methods Based on WeChat mini program,a smart learning platform for the Nursing Research Methods course was devel-oped.Seventeen postgraduate students in 2023 cohort and 23 postgraduate students in 2022 cohort were selected from the same university by convenience sampling method as the experimental and control groups,respectively.The control group used traditional learning strategies for the course,and the experimental group used the smart learning platform for the Nursing Research Methods course developed based on the WeChat mini-program.The learning intervention was conducted from September to October 2024,a period of 4 weeks.A research competency assess-ment questionnaire was used to compare research capabilities of two groups of subjects before and after the intervention,and a learning soft-ware quality evaluation tool was used to evaluate the platform usage experience.Results The smart learning platform had four functional mod-ules:teaching content,expansion materials,teaching interaction and personal center.After intervention,scores of experimental group in each dimension of research capability were higher than those of control group,among which the improvements in scores for literature review and e-valuation ability,scientific research design ability,and the total research ability score were significantly higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The smart learning platform can effectively improve the scientific research ability of nursing postgraduate students,which has certain advantages compared with traditional learning strategies,and the smart learning platform can be used as an auxiliary tool for Nursing Research Methods course.
