Study on the current situation and influencing factors of preoperative anxiety on elderly patients undergoing painless bronchos-copy

Abstract:Objective To investigate the preoperative state anxiety of patients undergoing painless bronchoscopy and explore its influ-encing factors.Methods A questionnaire survey which used a general information questionnaire,State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI),Gen-eral Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES)and Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)were conducted on a total of 196 patients who underwent painless tracheoscopy in the department of respiratory and critical care medicine of a certain tertiary hospital in Beijing.Results The score of state anxiety for patients undergoing painless bronchoscopy was(40.44±9.40)points,the score of general self-efficacy was(21.66±6.71)points,and the score of social support was(21.54±6.73)points.The preoperative state anxiety of patients undergoing painless bronchoscopy was neg-atively correlated with general self-efficacy and social support(P<0.01).Conclusion The anxiety level of elderly patients before painless bronchoscopy is moderately high.The awareness of their condition,general self-efficacy,and social support are the main influencing factors of anxiety in elderly patients before painless bronchoscopy.The medical staff should provide preoperative health education before the examina-tion,provide patients positive psychological interventions,alleviate patients' anxiety,and improve patients' compliance and cooperation with the examination.
