Abstract:Objective To develop a risk assessment scale for exposed keratopathy in Intensive Care Unit(ICU)patients and test its reliability and validity. Methods A scale was developed based on the literature review, group brainstorming and two rounds of expert consul-tations.Using the convenience sampling method,120 patients admitted to the ICU department of a Class III Grade A hospital in Jiangsu Prov-ince from August 2022 to January 2023 were selected for the survey to test the reliability and validity of the scale. Results The scale includ-ed 13 items in 5 dimensions, including eye assessment, head and face assessment, treatment and nursing, drug use and disease assessment.Five common factors were extracted from exploratory factor analysis, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 69.945%.The content validity index was 0.879~1.000,and the content validity index was 0.921.Cronbach's α coefficient of the scale was 0.767.If the score was≤19,it indicated a low risk.If it was between 20 and 49,it indicated a moderate risk.If it was≥50,it indicated a high risk. Conclusion The risk assessment scale established in the study has good reliability and validity, which can be used to assess the risk of exposed keratopathy in ICU patients.
