Construction and application of humanistic care model for mothers of extremely premature infants based on Swanson's caring theory

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of a humanistic care plan based on Swanson's caring theory on mothers of extremely prema-ture infants.Methods A total of 87 extremely premature infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit(NICU)of a class Ⅲ Grade A hospital in Beijing from January 2022 to December 2023 and their corresponding 82 mothers were selected as the research objects.A total of 41 extremely premature infants and 39 mothers from January to December 2022 in the control group received conventional humanistic care nursing mode,and 46 extremely premature infants and 43 mothers from January to December 2023 in the observation group were given the hu-manistic care plan based on Swanson's caring theory.The time of breastfeeding,the rate of exclusive breastfeeding,the maternal-infant attach-ment and parental satisfaction were compared between the two groups.Results The scores of the time of breastfeeding,the rate of exclusive breastfeeding,the relationship of maternal-infant attachment and the score of parental satisfaction in the NICU were higher than those of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The humanistic care plan based on Swanson's caring the-ory effectively enhances the breastfeeding rate of extremely premature infants,promotes the level of mother-infant attachment,and improves the medical experience,which is worthy of clinical application.
