The research on the current situation and influencing factors of oral frailty among elderly in nursing institutions

Abstract：Objective To investigate the current situation of oral frailty among the elderly in nursing institutions and explore its influ-encing factors.Methods From February to April 2024,a total of 208 elderly people in 3 nursing institution in Nanjing were recruited as the research subjects by convenience sampling.General information questionnaire and the Oral Frailty Index-8 were used for investigation.Multi-ple linear regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of oral frailty in the elderly.Results The prevalence of oral frailty a-mong the elderly in nursing institutions was 86.54%with an oral frailty score of 6.00(4.00,9.00)points.Age,drinking,number of chronic diseases,number of teeth,and physical frailty were influencing factors of oral frailty on the elderly in nursing institutions(P＜0.01 or P＜0.05).Conclusion The elderly in nursing institutions generally suffer from oral frailty,with older age,drinking more,a higher number of chronic diseases,fewer teeth and physical frailty making them more susceptible to oral frailty.Nursing staff of elderly care institutions should pay atten-tion to the problem of oral frailty in the elderly,regularly screen and timely formulate intervention measures are needed to prevent and control the occurrence and development of oral frailty.
