Abstract:Objective To explore the mediating effect of self-management behaviors on health information literacy and life quality for COPD patients. Methods A survey was conducted on 270 COPD patients from three tertiary Class A hospitals in Zhuzhou City by using a gener-al information questionnaire,Health Information Literacy Self-Assessment Scale,COPD Self-Management Scale,COPD Assessment Test. Results The COPD patients had a score of Health Information Literacy(15.58±2.37),a score of Self-Management Behavior(148.46±32.15),and a score of Quality of Life(17.89±6.15).The three variables of health information literacy,self-management behavior and life quality were positively correlated(P<0.01).Self-management behavior partially played a partial mediating effect between health information literacy and life quality, accounting for 66.37%of the total effects. Conclusion The life quality of COPD patients needs to be improved, and self-management behavior plays a mediating role between their health information literacy and quality of life.Improving patients'quality of life can be achieved by enhancing their health information literacy and self-management behavior levels.
