Correlation between stigma and psychological status and quality of life in liver transplant recipients

Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between stigma and psychological status and quality of life in liver transplant re-cipients and analyze the influencing factors of stigma.Methods A total of 152 liver transplant recipients in the outpatient department of a ter-tiary class A hospital were selected,the general information questionnaire,Stigma Scale for Chronic Illness,Self-Rating Anxiety Scale,Self-Rating Depressive Scale and The Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short Form Health Survey were used to analyze the liver transplant recipi-ents.Results The total score of stigma among liver transplant was(43.56±14.37),which needed to be further improved.Total stigma score of liver transplant recipients had a significant positive correlation with anxiety and depression scores(P<0.001)and a significant negative corre-lation with quality of life in other dimensions except the physiological dimension(P<0.001).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the physiology,social function and mental health dimensions of SF-36 were independent influencing factors of stigma in liver transplant recipients(P<0.01).Conclusion Liver transplant recipients have different degrees of stigma,and their level of stigma is directly proportional to their level of anxiety and depression,and inversely proportional to their quality of life level.Medical staff should take measures to reduce the stigma level of liver transplant recipients,relieve their anxiety and depression,improve their quality of life,and extend their sur-vival years.
