Abstract:Objective To explore the status quo of job burnout,self-aging sensation and job engagement among nurses in emergency department, and to analyze the mediating effect of self-aging sensation on job burnout and job engagement. Methods A total of 206 emergen-cy department nurses from 3 class A tertiary hospitals in Hubei Province were selected by convenience sampling method from March to May 2023.General information questionnaire,Maslach Burnout Inentory,Aging Self-rating Questionnaire and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale were used to investigate. Results The scores of job bumout,self-aging sensation and job engagement were(66.27±7.90),(80.07±9.31)and(55.23±8.49),respectively.The job bumout and self-aging sensation were negatively correlated with job engagement(r1=-0.493,r2=-0.633,P<0.01),while job burnout was positively correlated with self-aging sensation(r=0.377,P<0.01).The self-aging sensation had a partial mediating effect be-tween job burnout and job engagement among nurses in emergency department, and the value was-0.219,accounting for 28.11%of total effect. Conclusion The job engagement level of nurses in emergency department needs to be improved. The job burnout has a direct predictive effect on job engagement, and self-aging sensation plays a partial mediating effect between job bumout and job engagement. It suggests that managers can en-hance their work engagement by developing measures about reducing job burnout and self-aging sensation of nurses in emergency department.
