Research hotspots and frontier trends of loneliness in the elderly

Abstract:Objective To analyze the research hotspots and frontiers trends of the loneliness in the elderly in the past decade.Methods Citespace was used to visually analyze the research literature on loneliness of the elderly included in the Web of Science core da⁃tabase,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)and Wanfang Data Knowledge service platform from 2014 to 2024.Results A total of 3 002 English articles and 2 069 Chinese articles were included.The number of articles abroad was generally on the rise,while the number of domestic research articles was relatively stable,and the cooperation between research institutions and authors was weak.The common re⁃search hotspots at home and abroad focused on intervention strategies,while foreign studies centered on health outcomes and domestic studies paid more attention to influencing factors and key populations.The research frontiers at home and abroad included inflammatory biomarkers,the application of smart medical technology,casework,social isolation,mediating effects,elderly migrants,willingness to participate,social net⁃works.Conclusion The research on loneliness in the elderly has received continuous attention from scholars at home and abroad,and the re⁃search focuses on intervention strategies,health outcomes,influencing factors and key populations.It is suggested that research teams should carry out deeper research based on grasping the research frontier,to promote the high-quality development of loneliness related research in the elderly.
