The application study of nutritional management based on Lean Six Sigma in patients with non-small cell lung cancer

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of nutrition management program based on Lean Six Sigma theory in patients with non-small cell lung cancer during perioperative period.Methods A total of 477 patients with non-small cell lung cancer were divided into control group and observation group according to admission time.Among them,232 cases in the control group were given routine nutrition care,and 245 cases were in the observation group.Based on the control group and Lean Six Sigma theory,per-operative nutrition management program developed and control group adopted routine nursing methods,and the intervention group implemented.Comparing the Prognostic Nutritional Index(PNI),the contents of albumin and prealbumin that 2 days after the intervention,the incidence of postoperative gastrointestinal discom-fort(nausea,vomiting,constipation,loss of appetite),the average length of stay and satisfaction of patients were compared between the two groups.Results The preoperative PNI value,albumin and pre-albumin contents 2 days after operation in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group,the incidence of postoperative gastrointestinal discomfort in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group,the patients'satisfaction in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group,the average length of hospital stay in the intervention group was significantly shorter than that in the control group.The difference were all statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion The perioperative nutrition management program based on Lean Six Sigma theory can improve the perioperative nu-tritional status of patients with non-small cell lung cancer,reduce the incidence of postoperative gastrointestinal discomfort,shorten the aver-age postoperative hospital stay,improve satisfaction,and promote rapid recovery of patients.
