Development of a competence for independent practice assessment system for novice neurosurgery nurses

Abstract:Objective To construct a set of scientific,reasonable and applicable assessment standards for independent practice appli-cable of novice neurosurgery nurses.Methods Literature review,expert consultation and group discussion were used to develop an initial competence model-based assessment system.Then the system was revised in accordance with the results of two rounds of Delphi consultation with 26 relevant experts.Results The constructed system comprised 4 primary indicators,11 secondary indicators,and 53 tertiary indicators.The response rate was 92.86%for the first round of Delphi consultation,and was 100%for the second round of Delphi consultation.The au-thoritative coefficient,familiarity coefficient and judgment coefficient were 0.959,0.941 and 0.978,respectively,for the second round of Delphi consultation.The Kendall's coefficients of concordance for primary,secondary,and tertiary indicators in the second round of Delphi consulta-tion were 0.308,0.276,and 0.209,respectively,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The names and weight values of the four first indicators were basic knowledge and skills(0.439),clinical practice ability(0.311),personality traits(0.104),and personal develop-ment ability(0.146).Conclusion The competence for independent practice assessment system for novice neurosurgery nurses is scientific,reliable,practical,and comprehensive,which can be used as a reliable reference for the assessment of novice neurosurgery nurses'independent practice ability,contributes to the establishment of a solid foundation for enhancing clinical teaching level,and offers effective guidance on sci-entific management of nursing human resources.
