Abstract:Objective To investigate the allocation of nursing human resources in ICU of tertiary Glass-A hospitals. Methods From August to October 2022,a total of 57 ICU head nurses who came from 25 hospitals from 11 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions were investigated through convenience sampling.A self-designed questionnaire was used, including personal information, general information of hos-pitals/ICUs,human resource allocation, and work intensity and quality. Results The actual bed care ratio of 57 ICUs was 1︰(2.03±0.82),which was negatively associated with accidental injury(P<0.05).The proportion of nurses with less than 5 years of experience in ICUs was positively associated with unplanned extubation, new pressure injuries, urinary tract infections,ventilator-associated pneumonia, and catheter-associated bloodstream infections(P<0.05).Conclusion The allocation of ICU nursing manpower is insufficient. The bed-to-nurse ratio is positively correlated with accidental injury, and nurses' working years is correlated with adverse events. In the future,we should further strengthen the allocation of nursing human resources, improve the bed-to-nurse ratio, optimize the professional structure of nurses, and ensure the nurisng quality and patient safety.
