Research on the effectiveness of improving the quality of surgical pathology specimen management based on turtle diagram

Abstract：Objective To explore the application effect of turtle diagram in quality management of surgical pathological specimens.Methods The turtle diagram was used to identify six key issues(input,output,responsible person,resource utilization,activities basis and evaluation indicators)of the surgical pathology specimen management process.Then a turtle diagram and a flowchart were drawn,and the in-volved main factors were analyzed,then efforts were made accordingly to formulate an improvement plan,design and carry out a procedure to standardize the quality control of the management process.Results The application of the turtle diagram-based management process brought about a statistically prominent reduction in the number of adverse events of surgical pathology specimens and a statistically notable increase in the rate of timeliness submission of the specimens(P＜0.05).Conclusion The application of turtle diagram can effectively improve the accu-racy of pathological specimen submission and the quality of nursing management in the operating room.
