Development of a core competency evaluation scale for oncology case managers

Abstract：Objective To develop the core competency evaluation scale for oncology case managers,and to test its reliability and valid-ity.Methods After reviewing domestic and international literature and conducting 2 rounds of Delphi expert consultation,the first draft of the scale was formed through a pre-survey,and the formalized core competency evaluation scale for oncology case manager was formed by survey-ing 203 oncology case managers.Results The core competency evaluation scale for oncology case managers consisted of 4 dimensions with 26 items,such as self-development ability(eight items),management improvement ability(six items),knowledge reserve ability(seven i-tems)and clinical practice ability(five items).The cumulative explained variance ratio was 72.498%.The scale's overall content validity was 0.958 while the content validity of each item was 0.800～1.000.The scale's overall Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.968 while the Cronbach's α coefficient of four dimensions was 0.943,0.923,0.953 and 0.918.The split-half reliability was 0.969(P＜0.001).Conclusion The core competency evaluation scale for oncology case managers has good reliability and validity,which can be used as a tool to measure the training quality of onlogy case managers,and is expected to provide reference for the training and post management of case managers.
