Abstract:Objective To explore the effectiveness of"Internet plus" home care services in chronic disease patients with a retained pe-ripherally inserted central catheter(PICC).Methods One hundred and fifteen chronic disease patients who were living with a PICC from Au-gust 2021 to January 2022(observation group)were selected and treated by "Internet plus" home care services. They were compared to their counterparts(n=115,control group)who were living with a PICC from January to July 2021 and received routine interventions.Inter-group differences in catheter-related complications, family burden and patient satisfaction were comparatively analyzed. Results In total, patients in the observation group received 4 090 times of PICC maintenance services, and 1 030 venous blood sampling services, even without an adverse e-vent.They had statistically significant reduced number of catheter-related complications and family burden as well as statistically higher patient satisfaction compared with the controls(P<0.05).Conclusion By implementing the"Internet plus" home care services, the patient condition can be more intuitively assessed, judged and treated, and the actual needs of patients can be satisfied. Moreover, online consultation and guidance can effectively solve patients'self-care problems. In short, the delivery of the"Internet plus" home care services is contributive to the reduction of the incidence of adverse events and catheter-related complications, the decrease of family burden and the increase of patient satisfaction.
