Abstract:Objective To translate the parent's knowledge of hospital-based pediatric falls(PKOF)into Chines and test its reliability and validity. Methods Following the Breslin translation model, the English version of PKOF was translated,back-translated,culturally adjus-ted,and pre-investigated to form its Chinese version.Using the convenient sampling method,a questionnaire survey was conducted among caregivers of hospitalized children in a children's specialized hospital in Hangzhou from November 2022 to December 2022.Content and struc-tural validity were used to evaluate the validity of the scale, and structural validity was assessed using exploratory factor analysis.Reliability of the scale was tested using Cronbach's coefficient. Results A total of 478 questionnaires were distributed,of which 465 were valid. The Chi-nese version of PKOF included 23 items. After exploratory factor analysis,a total of 5 common factors were extracted, including risk percep-tion(7 items),guardianship(5 items),safety perception(4 items),growth and development risk(3 items)and prevention knowledge(4 i-tems).The cumulative variance contribution was 62.628%.The content validity at entry level ranged from 0.889 to 1.000.The content validity at scale level was 0.913.The coefficient of inter-evaluator consistency was 0.913.The Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.854,and the retesting co-efficient was 0.897.Conclusion The Chinese version of PKOF has good reliability and validity, which can effectively evaluate the caregivers'cognition of hospitalized children's falls.
