Abstract:Objective To explore the mediating effect of rumination between depression and post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)in psychiatric nurses within one year of experiencing adverse events. Methods A total of 223 nurses from 6 tertiary psychiatric hospitals in Shandong Province were investigated with the general information questionnaire,The PTSD Checklist Civilian Version,Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS),and Event Related Rumination Inventory(ERRI).Results Within one year of experiencing adverse events, the score of PTSD,SDS and ERRI of psychiatric nurses were(41.21±15.18),(55.00±10.00)and(26.16±13.29),respectively.PTSD,depression and rumina-tion were positively correlated(P<0.01).Rumination played a partial mediating effect between depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Conclusion Depression can directly predict the post-traumatic stress disorder of psychiatric nurses within one year of experiencing adverse events, and can also positively affect the post-traumatic stress disorder of individuals through the mediating effect of invasive rumination and the chain mediation composed of invasive rumination and purposeful rumination.
