Research on the current situation and influencing factors of job burnout of nursing assistants for the elderly

Abstract：Objective To understand the current situation and influencing factors of job burnout of nursing staff for the aged.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 238 nursing staff for the aged coming from 8 elderly care institutions and 23 commu-nity home-based elderly care service centers in Huai'an using burnout scale by convenience sampling.Results The total score of job burnout was(34.74±5.41),and the scores of three dimensions in descending order were depersonalization(2.67±0.45),emotional exhaustion(2.51±0.40),and reduced personal accomplishment(1.92±0.38).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that monthly in-come level,family attitude,working years and daywork time were the influencing factors of job burnout of nursing staff for the aged(P＜0.01).Conclusion There is obvious job burnout among nursing staff for the aged.Managers should improve their salary,reduce their daywork time,win family support,and increase positive publicity,support the development of the elderly care service industry,and provide professional guidance to relieve their job burnout.
