Application of self-management intervention based on ＂Internet+＂ in patients with early knee osteoarthritis

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of self-management intervention based on"Internet+"in patients with early knee osteoar-thritis(KOA),and to provide more reference for the diversity of self-management intervention modes.Methods A total of 86 early KOA pa-tients who were treated in the orthopedic outpatient clinic of a hospital in Xi'an from February to June 2022 were randomly divided into the con-trol group and the intervention group.The control group only sent the self-management program through the WeChat group without special man-agement,and the intervention group intervened through the WeChat group combined with the WeChat public platform management and supervi-sion.The self-management behaviors,disease knowledge awareness of early KOA,and the score of Western Ontario McMaster University Osteo-arthritis Index(WOMAC)were compared between the two groups before the intervention,at the end of the intervention and at the 8th week after the end of the intervention.Results Before the intervention,there were no statistically significant differences in self-management behavior,dis-ease knowledge awareness,and WOMAC scores between the two groups(P＞0.05).At the end of the intervention and the 8th week after the end of the intervention,the self-management behavior and disease knowledge awareness of the patients in the intervention group were significantly better than those of the control group(P＜0.01).There was no statistically significant difference in the pain dimension of WOMAC between the two groups(P＞0.05),but the intervention group was better than that of the control group in the total score,joint stiffness and difficulty in daily life(P＜0.01 or P＜0.05).Conclusion The self-management intervention based on"Internet+"can improve the self-management behavior of patients with early KOA,improve their disease knowledge awareness of early knee osteoarthritis,and improve some of their knee function.
