The research of nurse's intention of staying and its influencing factors in secondary and tertiary hospitals in Guangdong prov-ince

Abstract：Objective To describe the present situation of nurse's intention of staying in secondary and tertiary hospitals in Guangdong province and analyze the influencing factors.Methods The questionnaire survey was conducted to collect the information of nurse character-istics,intention of staying,nursing work environments,care left undone and workplace violence.Data of 4 163 nurses from 36 secondary and tertiary hospitals were analyzed in the study.Results About 79.87%of nurses in secondary and tertiary hospitals in Guangdong province were willing to stay.Increasing working years,high professional titles and high evaluation of nursing work environments were protective factors for nurses'intention to stay,while more care left undone and exposure to workplace violence from colleagues were risk factors for nurses'in-tention to stay.Conclusion The proportion of nurses who have intention of staying in tertiary and secondary hospitals in Guangdong province needs to be further increased.The nursing leaders should take corresponding measures according to the influencing factors in order to improve nurse retention.
