A current study on the medical rescue capabilities in disasters of civilian nursing professionals in military hospitals

Abstract:Objective To understand the level of medical rescue nursing capabilities of civilian nursing professionals in military hospi-tals,providing a scientific basis for constructing a rescue capability training system for civilian professionals in the military.Methods A self-designed Rescue Capability in Disasters Questionnaire was used to investigate the current level of relevant capabilities in 193 nursing civilian professionals in a military hospital and its subordinate outpatient departments.Results The mean total score on medical rescue capabilities knowledge in disasters of the nursing professionals was(75.34±9.37).Specifically,they had a good mastery of knowledge and six major emer-gency techniques in disasters.However,their mastery of injury assessment and field survival skills were unsatisfactory.Those from the hospital were superior to their counterparts from the subordinate outpatient departments in terms of self-rescue and mutual-rescue,injury assessment,and post-disaster psychological counseling.These professionals'overall willingness to participate in medical rescue in disasters was strong.Conclusion The overall medical rescue capability in disasters of civilian nursing professionals in military hospitals needs to be improved,especially by strengthening the training of injury assessment and field survival ability,so as to better complete various rescue tasks in disaster management.
